Not really how I was planning on starting up livejournal again. But as it seems I'll be having an excess of spare time now... Yeah, just got laid off. Ummm... thought I had more to say about it than that. Guess not. Anyone have a spare job lying around they don't need?

I just got a lovely package today... My birthday present from my dear wife was back ordered till recently, but I must say it was well worth the wait. See, I just got me some Beyerdynamic DT 880 headphones. Read here for an amazing review of them. So far, I've had to be at work, so I've only been able to use them on the crappy output on our cheap-o computers... But even then... these things are amazing! And so comfortable. Assuming I don't melt when I try them out with my home system, I'll give more details on them later.

I've been playing World of Warcraft quite a bit lately, having gotten into the stress test beta going on this week. So far, it is just frickin amazing! I can't wait for the final game, where we have a large group playing together. Playing the beta has some ups and downs though... I love the game, but now that I'm at a pretty good level, I don't look forward to having to start all over again. Then, I'm going to have to wait until the game actually comes out before playing again... Shambry has been more than kind though, putting up with my constant playing over the weekend. She's the best!
An odd thing happened Monday, I was running over to my Mom's to help setup some sound equipment, and when I came back the people in our apartment complex were out having a gathering. Ok, that wasn't so odd as they all know each other quite well and do that pretty often. But, they invited us to join them, and the odd thing is we went! Even though World of Warcraft was calling to me... we went. While there, I had something re-distinguished to me. Shambry and I aren't normal. We really just didn't fit in there, and spent most of the time sitting there and nodding from time to time... We don't have any kids, we're not both going to school, I don't really want to play the squirt gun games with the other guys... They were all really nice people, but they were just different from us in so many ways it was hard to follow the same conversation paths and such. Lucky for us, we have a group of friends who are all more or less in the same boat as we are, which works out very nicely. Unlucky for us, most of them are planning on leaving Utah as soon as the chance arises, and we're not... Best make use of the time we have eh?

So, I spent this weekend camping. Those who know me realize this isn't something that can often be heard of me... In fact, recently Penny Arcade had a couple comics that defined my expectations of said trip, though instead of the Doom 3 release, I got to miss the open beta for World of Warcraft... But, much to my surprise, I actually had a good time! Details as follows: ( Read more... )

Be warned all ye who read this from time to time, there might actually be updates! I recently purchased the domain of kishkumen.com. My bro has his online handle as a domain and started his own blog there... I figured I'd give it a shot. I've actually got a wee bit of stuff up there, but figured I shouldn't just ignore this forum of communication just because I have another output for my crazy ideas! So, unless begged otherwise... I might cross post a thought or two, to save people from having to make the trip to the other site. Starting with this!
Recently an interesting series of events has found me working with the owner of a local Homestar Runner store. I guess he contacted the owners of the site, and they gave him the go ahead to start selling stuff from a kiosk in our local mall. We went over to check it out, and for some reason the owner and I seemed to recognize each other from somewhere... Turns out he was our waiter once, like years ago. Good memory on both our parts eh? So, we talked for a while and I gave him some suggestions for free advertising etc. Next thing I know, I'm handing out coupons for stuff at work left and right, and getting kickbacks for my referrals. Go me! Hopefully soon he'll have more info on his online store, but in the meantime if anyone wants anything let me know and I should be able to get some discounts.

Too long since I've updated. Shocking, I know. As far as I know I might actually even have stuff to talk about! where to start...
I finally cornered one of the management rodents a couple weeks ago, and demanded to know why I have yet to get the raise I was supposed to get months ago... I must have looked like I was serious, because he called HR up and got it cleared! Now I just have to wait for all the autographs to go through, and hopefully I'll finally no longer be the only one in my job who's worked here for over 3.5 years without a promotion... The scary part, because of this I've let my wife loose for the Great House Hunt.
Many of you may remember that I recently purchased a motorcycle. I love driving it! so much fun! Only problem is the one real jacket I have is one of the "nice" looking leather jackets... The kind that you want to keep as far away from rain etc as possible... I just know I'm going to have to drive in the rain someday. Also, the leather is about as thick as a couple sheets of paper, so chances of it hindering pavement from reaching my oh-so-tender flesh are about nil. So, queue looking around for a new leather jacket. I found one, reviewed very highly, and thanks to recent work bonuses and above raise.... I ordered one. Unfortunately, it was out of stock for about a week, but just came back in today and will be shipped out to me Monday! For those interested in what it looks like, here it is.
Next on the agenda! ( DnD Update! ) In other news, I share tiassa's dilemma/ferret shock of too many cool things coming out this next week... At least it will be entertaining after I sort out what I want to do when.
Wow, quite the post for me! guess that's what happens when you only do it once a month...

once again, it's time for the update of the century! Or month. Or something. The amazing thing is much has happened since my last update! Then again, my last update wasn't all that fun.
So, what's new you ask? The subject line might be a hint. But first, lets take a quick trip in the wayback machine to see what started this all in motion. See, shambry has been having problems with her tech support job... and recently, a chance to go from tech support to order taking came up. This is a great thing! But has one major problem, her shifts would be starting up to 3 hours before mine... And since my Mustang went the way of the dodo, that's a lot of annoying car-pooling back and forth... And with current gas prices, that's not a good thing. So I come up with a plan! (ok, I've had the plan since I was like 13, but I got to use it this time) What if we got... a Motorcycle!! It's cheaper than a car, uses less gas, and no one has to shuttle the other back and forth to work! Since I have the coolest wife out there, it actually worked!! So here is a quick pic my Mom took when I was visiting. Ignore the jumper cables on the back, and the missing side plate... I'll have better pictures as soon as I stop riding it everywhere and get some pictures taken of it. Should anyone need specs, it's an '82 Yamaha Maxim 750. It took a couple weeks before I could use it, as when I got it the front breaks weren't working... But now that it's all fixed up it's a thrill to ride!
Other things have happened, but alas it seems the publicity of live journals isn't the best place to discuss such things. But it seems that some people no longer want anything to do with me and mine... Quite the roller coaster...

I've been spending a lot of time thinking about the idea of respect. I like the idea, respect means so much! The problem is, there are so many people who think it means things like fear, or control... I remember working with some after school programs in New York when I was there, they had several "leaders" who were in charge of the kids, and several volunteers (me) who would just help out. One of said leaders tried to force respect from the kids, and can I just say it was amusing watching him get so frustrated when the kids wouldn't do what they want. I realized I wanted to be nothing like that, demanding that people pay you that which was not earned. So, I took my time and got to know the kids. I was from out of town, so at first it was hard and most of them had no desire to even look at me, but with time and patience I was able to become really good friends with those kids. Eventually, they would come to me with all their questions, even had me come over to their house for dinner! They had respect for me and what I said, and I had earned it fair and square. It felt great. From then on, I've always been trying to define respect vs demanding power. If you look at history, it's rather amazing how the people who demanded power got it, but most often were killed shortly after getting it. Those who worked to gain respect were the legendary leaders who were honored through life and death. Even now, you look around the world at those who are demanding power and what's happening to them. Our old buddy Saddam, sure he was in control of a whole country, but now he's probably hiding in a cave somewhere, unable to trust even those he beat into submission. Says a lot about respect, wouldn't you say? I can only hope that in my life I've been able to earn the respect of my friends and family. Allow me to point out the main word there, earn. Sometimes it takes months, sometimes years, but it's worth putting forth the effort to do it. If anyone thinks they'll get any respect by demanding it, I fear they don't understand what respect is and that they are just trying to demand power instead of earn it... Just my two cents on the subject of respect :)

Ok, I'll say this right now. This is just a ploy to get people to go to my site. See, I do this little computer mod/review site. And when I say little, I mean little. I had hoped that by having a neat domain, and a bit of witty commentary, that the would would come flooding to my "door" as it were. Sadly, this isn't true. And I've found that I'm a bit too impatient to get my computer mods done for me to take the time to document it right. So my problem is content... We have but 2 articles on the site (and about 3 more half written), which anyone knows is pretty much nil in the internet world. Unless someone decides to fund us lots of cash to do mods on other computers (which will be easier to document, cus well... it's not MY computer, so I can take my time), or we need to find ourselves some more content. As stated in my blurb, I stumbled across a couple movie review sites that appealed to me a bit. I have tons of movies... does this qualify me as someone who's opinion is worth hearing? Some people tend to think so. I know I've spent quite some time discussing my thoughts on said movies often at work... But I just get the nagging feeling that I'm a poser of sorts. I just buy the movies so I can pretend I'm a movie guy.
Then again, there is this guy, that I worked with for a couple years. He started reviewing movies on his site, and I really enjoyed the way he did it, and trusted his opinion. Eventually, he even got a small job as a movie reviewer. I assure my dear readers that this is not my intention. I'm just trying to make a site that's not a waste of space on the internet... But he gives me a kind of hope. But as usual, I ramble on. If you feel so inclined, check out the site, leave a comment (or more, makes me feel warm and fuzzy), and we'll see what happens from there

Just a quick one... I had to brag my level of geekness. My Brother sent me this link along with his score of 31%. Not sure how proud I should be, but my final score was 53.45168% - Super Geek. So, all of my geek friends (including my... what, one reader?) let us unite and prove that I'm not really all that amazing of a geek, but at least better than my brother. Yeah

So, got a lovely e-mail today:
Dear Kishkumen, (Ok, it didn't really say Kishkumen)
Thank you for your interest in the Phone Tech position at :my place of work:. We have carefully reviewed all of the applications and have made our preliminary choices. We have chosen other applicants that most closely fit our needs for this position.
That would be the 4th time I've gotten said e-mail for roughly the same position. I think they're trying to give me a hint, especially since they decided not even to interview me for this one. Guess it's time to give up on looking for a job in company!
In lighter news, J and I, and Z and P actually, have been working on a prestige class for her for my game. I think we've hit something that should be fun for all involved, and hopefully not too powerful... Time will tell

Ok, this is why I rarely update my journal... I opened up this window literally 40 minutes ago, and just barely got a moment to get typing on it... I could update at home, but there I have plenty of other things to keep me company :)
Another 20 minutes to get here. woo.
Ok, this is sick, another 40 minutes... Something tells me I just need to give up and post this, or it will never make it out!!
but, there needs be some meat to this post, right? As my dear wife posted in her journal ( shambry), our live-in sister has finally decided to pay some rent. This is a good thing. After roughly 5 months of her living with us rent-free, I guess it's about time. As for where they money is going... only time will tell.
another 50 minutes, yeeehaw.
guess we can just end with it's a rather hectic day at work. With an e-mail upgrade, where we have roughly no idea whats going on... I've heard so many rumors about it, ranging from it hasn't started yet but we're still getting 90% of our calls being e-mail issues, to it started last week, and that's the reason 90% of our calls are e-mail issues. The joys of working the night shift, never having anyone to ask what the truth is. And on that note, I'm giving up on this update!

So, my reader has been strongly suggesting that I update my journal. And since I'm trying to think of things to keep me from going to work on time, I figured why not. Now... what has been going on...
We took a nice long vacation last week, I got a full 9 days away from work (counting saturdays and sundays). And the best part was we got just about nothing done the whole time! We didn't do any trips, didn't overhaul the house (other than the front room, and I'll get to that), and didn't have any parties large enough to call the police down on us. I was able to help tiassa setup her new 5.1 stereo system, which is always fun. And convincing other people to spend lots of money has also been high on my list of things to do ;)
Speaking of spending money... Last friday, we decided to wander around the local mall, and since we were in the area, I figured we could check to see if Sears had the TV model I'd been looking for. To make a somewhat long story short, they did. Then they price matched down about $100, then sold us the floor model for another $100 less... I couldn't pass it up. So, we now have a nice TV! To get it to fit, we needed to make room in the front room, and now my poor computer is shoved over to a side... But it is quite worth it, in my opinion :)
Lets see... Anything else exciting... Oh, I found out yesterday that my Brother and his wife will be visiting us for about a week! Had you asked me 6 years ago if I'd ever be excited about my brother visiting me... Chances are I'd just be pleased that he lived far enough away that he'd have to plan a visit. But, shocking as it is, I actually like my brother now! I guess after we both grew up, and he realized he didn't need to keep picking on me, we found out we were in fact both nice people, and worth keeping around. Sadly, after we realize this, he moves to Missouri! But, all that aside, I'm excited for him to be here. Even though most of the week I'll be in work and un-able to hang out with him... but we'll still be able to do some stuff I'm sure.
As always my DVD collection grows and grows. For kicks, I created a hidden folder and did a list of all the TV series that we want to get... And just the ones that are out are going to cost us several thousand dollars to acquire all of them. That's a lot of DVDs! But I enjoy the collection of them, guess it's kindof my hobby to keep stress at bay. Then spending hours organizing them as I see fit, then getting pissed when others use them and don't put them back in the right places... Maybe it's all just an attempt to make myself look cool? Like I'm a "real" movie buff, so I can sit in parties (like I go to those) and discuss the finer points of why some obscure film compares to the latest and greatest. That's it! It's all just a ploy to get people to think I know something! They look at my rack of DVDs and go "man, that guy must know a lot about movies." So, now that I know this.... I need to get more movies!!
Ok, time to go to work. But remind me sometime to tell you about our live-in sister. That's a few posts in and of itself.

Ok, so it's been a while since my last update. Why you might ask? dunno. But then again, I doubt anyone will be asking any time soon :)
So, time for the first update of my role playing game! for all the masses out there that have been waiting for this moment. Should anyone feel lost in the update, and want to more a bit of background information, just drop a line and I'll explain what you missed. So, party decided that they want to follow the trail of the "heroes" they heard rumor of in Mulhessen. Mind, I only mentioned them so that the players in the first incarnation of Alastar could have a little laugh, and to show that their work hadn't been totally in vain, that their characters really existed. Didn't plan on the fact that current party would assume I meant hunt them down and find them... So, they heard the old party went north and north they go looking for them. While in the first city they stumbled across, our Dark elf (not native to this world, long and cool story behind that one) is spotted by a normal elf from the elven city of Soubar, is rather shocked and bolts off. Questioning the town in search of heroes we find they went to Soubar... So, when current party goes up the Soubar road, they are met with a line of 20 arrows being shot right in front of them by the elves keeping watch in the trees... after a bit more convincing, they turn around and go back. This is when our group decided to investigate some odd goings on in the north, near one of the players old home towns (was mysteriously destroyed). They get there, find that it is still destroyed, and suggest to look to the larger city a day to the north to see if they know anything... Cue creepy city music:
So, Gilster is a coast city, used to be larger but has shrunk over several hundred years. The sea it is on is almost impossible to sail on due to the large amounts of ice floes, and ice burgs floating around... that are there all year. The towns folk are rather un-trusting, and haven't seen strangers for a while. None make eye contact. So, they hit the local tavern, and get rooms, then meet Old Lo the crazy guy. Lo tells them all sorts of fun stuff, ranging from the fact that the squirrels are lazy, that everyone who makes "ripples" in the city either leave, or disappear, and tells them the local history. A few thousand years ago, the evil wizard who lived up north tried to kill everyone off, the gallant city folk (not this city but another) fought him off and eventually killed him... But he had the last laugh, he cursed all the lands with a deadly cold, that eventually drove off everyone that lived in that part of the world, and made the seas impassible. That is why it's always cold up there, and why no one goes there any more. He also points out the odd law placed by the mayor that no one can kill any snakes... odd stuff.
I think I'm writing a bit much about this, but I have to! I've spent a long time getting the players to this point (over the space of 2 different campaigns), so I'm rather over proud of my work. Deal with it!
So, next morning Lo was found dead... Poor guy passed away in his sleep... of a broken neck, but who's counting? Party follows a bit of advice of his, and consult with Dieth, the last local fisherman. Dieth was an NPC I really liked, he had the potential to turn the city around, to form a rebellion against the evil that was keeping everyone scared. He hadn't done it yet because he himself was scared for his family. So, our party goes to talk to him, and does an amazing job of pissing him off, and making him more worried about those close to him... Dieth tells them to shove off. So who's next.... The mayor!! They go to the mayor, who's been in power for the last 15 years, and start bullying him. He tries to be helpful, and answers their questions as best as he can, but they start to threaten him... So, since the Mayor is evil, and a half Yuan-Ti mage, he tries to cast "hold person" on the "person" doing most of the threatening. Minor problem... Said "Person" really isn't a person. Its a shape shifter. So, a fight breaks out and they do a good job of making sure he's quite dead, then think about asking him for more info. Oops? Next, we drag the no longer shape changed mayor through town, scaring the hell out of the already scared locals: "Oh no, the strangers have come and 2 people are dead in 2 days! now they're dragging some monster into the tavern!! Maybe we should help them now! or not, lets keep hiding"
Back they go to be good people and keep an eye on Dieth's house, just to sooth his troubled mind. That is until one player walks in the front door (no knocking mind), and points out there's nothing to worry about. Dieth starts to worry. Next day, Dieth comes to the tavern and says "Ok, if I tell you everything I know, and take you where you need to go will you leave us alone?!?" They agree, and Dieth takes them to the land north, where he had been forced to take other people before. Dieth goes home, a broken man, scared to look out his front door, jumping at shadows, and dies shortly after of a heart attack. Good job guys!! ;)
Ok, north is cold. Very cold. As they travel north they find some nice undead creatures, who scare off half the group, and really piss off the other half (only 4 creatures mind). Keep going north to find the outskirts of the destroyed city, on closer inspection, the streets are littered with thousands of bodies, much like the ones that attacked at night... might not be a good place to stay. So around the city they go heading north. There they find a really cool castle, which has been encased with 7 feet of crystal clear ice. Creepy. They had been following some sort of trail to get to this point, and said trail had turned to the east, so east they go, to find a large frozen lake. A couple hundred feet into said lake there was a 25 foot tall fortress made out of ice blocks (not the cool ice that the castle had around it), with some large humanoids going in it. Our party waits till dark, when the fortress people start lighting many torches, and placing them all around the top of the building. At this time, the party feels the bone chilling cold that is a sure sign that some of those undead are coming from behind them... So, they charge the fortress!! As they get closer, they get shot at by flaming arrows (sadly, only one person got set on fire... that would have been a lot of fun). Once they get to the fort, they start trying to break down the door. Looking behind we see 15 of our undead friends (yes, based on "The Others" from the Song of Ice and Fire series) heading our way. With mucho team work, we break down a door! and half of the team falls down a pit just on the other side of the door... Good thing for them, it was just the start of a sortof mine, leading down and towards the castle. Down they go, killing some of the large humanoids that were dragging a block of ice up the shaft. At the bottom, they find a brick wall, and assume it's one of the walls of the castle. After a brief consideration of some boxes marked T.N.T. (my fault they were decorations that turned into major distractions) they got the idea to send down the block of ice that was getting drug up the shaft, in hopes it would break through the door. It did. Quick thinking guys!!
Now, I feel the need to make a point. I hate drawing maps. Especially building maps. But I felt my game had been lacking them, since the whole of my DMing with said group (Alastar part one, Star Wars, and Alastar part 2) I had drawn a grand total of one map. And that one sucked. So, this time I swore I was going to make a fun castle, that we could spend some time crawling through and discovering things. I studied floor plans, I listed all the types of rooms I'd want in said castle, I did rough drawings, I worked hours and hours to make it good. I liked the finished product. It wasn't everything I'd hoped it would be, but would have been fun to go through. Keep that in mind as we continue.
So, we get in the castle and look at the clock. Getting close to 1 AM... shambry had to go to work in 5 hours, J and were falling asleep, and everyone else was starting to get excited at the chance to go through the castle I had been talking about for so long. I knew it wouldn't work, cus the castle would take another 2-3 hours to do (was filled with a variety of golems). So, we just decided to call it good, and pretend we had just gone through it, as there was some very important story line info at the end of said castle... Dangit! All that work for nothing. Oh well?
Ok, so we get to the important room of the castle, it's filled with ice, and has 10 large sentient ice golems standing in the corner. They ask what our party is doing there, then one of them "leaves" buy melting into the floor, and comes back, out of said floor. Golems consult each other mentally, then step aside to let our party down some stairs. Down they go, to another ice filled room. This one has a large diamond looking thing in the corner. Now by large, I don't mean 10 carat. I mean 10 feet tall. Standing inside of it is the spirit of the mage of legends. The approach cautiously, and talk with him. He tells the truth of the past 3 thousand years... Turns out he's not evil! He was a good mage, who ran a school, and found out that the large city to the south (not Gilster, destroyed one) had been infested with Yuan-Ti. The Yuan-Ti had made a labyrinth of tunnels and temples of great evil. Nasty little things, part snake, part human, harder to get rid of than roaches. So he tried to let the people know what was going on, but was too late... They had control of the government, and so the people were told he was evil and to destroy him. He tried not to fight, and was killed, but prepared a way for his soul to stick around and lashed out with the forces of cold. This quickly drove the cold blooded Yuan-Ti out of the city, along with most the people as well. The Yuan-Ti want their temples back though, and have been working for years to get back. The minotaur invasion is just a front to get them closer. The portal opening to the south was just a distraction. For the past 20 years, they have been making sure Alastar was weak, and un-able to stop said invasion... So now we have a reason for it all, and the party knows who they're really against. And now it's 2 AM, and we decide to stop till next time (which will be at least 3 months, since 2 of my players are getting hitched). Gives me time to think about stuff huh!!
Wow... that was a long update. Hope it wasn't too boring! Feel free to drop a comment, or none!

So, I'm quite excited to write pages and pages about .hack, since that might be the only thing to satisfy the fact that I'm not playing it... Which is also probably why I've been telling every gamer I can get a hold of that they need to play it, then go on to tell them exactly why. But, for your protection, I'll hold off... For now.
I did get to see Daredevil this weekend with "The Gang." I get the feeling I'm the only one in the group that really liked it. Most everyone enjoyed it, but I was quite impressed. It's nothing compared to Spiderman, naturally, but it has some of it's own qualities that just rung true to me. First off, I just loved the idea of a super hero who actually killed the bad guys (for the most part). I do understand that the others don't because they're the good guys... but it's a war against evil in every way, shape, and form! What wars do we have where no one dies? True if Batman killed all the real bad guys, the comics would be about 10 books long, and he'd probably be pretty bored sitting in the batcave not wondering who's broken out of jail this weekend. But at the same time, the countless citizens that get caught in the explosions would probably be a bit happier. But I digress, or something. Another aspect I enjoyed was the focus on sound. I always enjoy when the movies focus on senses, and what's really possible with them. For example, I love watching K-Pax and watching how often they have reflected lights, rainbows, etc. In Daredevil we get to "see" the normal every day sounds that become invisible to most people. As mentioned in the "Music" I've had a ringing in my ears for a decade or so, and even though I can ignore it pretty well I have no idea of real silence any more. I'd love to have a casket and water bed like that if it could give quiet for once. I get the feeling that I'm just babbling up there, but I just like sound. I like how it was portrayed, and the effects it was shown to have on people's lives. So, all in all, pretty good movie.
Ok, I can hold it back no longer... I am a major fan of .Hack! I admit it's not the best RPG I've ever played, but it ranks up there pretty well. The gameplay is unique, the story is compelling, and the presentation is on quite the epic scale. I like epic things. Maybe it's just the word... Anyway, the game is going to be released in 4 parts, and as such in 4 whole games. You finish part one, take your saves over to part two, and off you go! This would have really sucked if they did 4 parts like George Lucas does 3 parts, but the game releases are slated for 3 months apart. I can handle that! And the thought of taking the same characters through so much game... gives me the shivers. Another of the cool features that I'm sure would excite the puritan anime fans is that you can play with the original japanese soundtrack. Now, I prefer my anime subtitled, and do get the occasional urge to retch at the dubbed ones, but mostly because the dubbing is often worded wrong, and sped up to match the characters etc. I figure in this, the subtitles are going to be the exact same thing they're saying, and there's no need to speed anything up. Might as well be able to understand what I'm hearing, right? Then again, I haven't tried it out with said japanese audio track... Maybe the voices are just so cool that I won't be able to live without it. Right
So, I get the feeling this is going to be an annoyingly long post. Sorry, to whoever wastes their time reading it :)
Just got off the phone with one of my players, turns out the threat has been removed and we are gaming this saturday! Ok, we would have gamed either way, but we're doing my game this saturday. I'm just so excited to write up a post-game review! no really! Then maybe people other than players and relatives will check this out ;) Guess I had also better stop with the senseless rambles, and start working more on the game.

so, I just got out of a 2 hour training for my job, on this "tool" for measuring anti-oxidants and all that jazz. It has a powerful blue laser on it, so it's not that bad. One thing I found quite amusing was a "security" feature on the back, kinda like those key cards you need to plug into some cars to get them turned on. I asked the trainer if I could see it... it was a 1/4 inch stereo mini jack, with 2 of the connections bridged with a wire... that's secure! just need a quick trip to Radio Shack to get full access to a regulated blue laser!
In other news, heard rumor that one of my players might be taking a trip out of town the day of the next big game... They're looking for other options and timing for it, but probably not looking good. But tomorrow I get to have a day out on the town with movie watching, movie buying, and CD burning! should be fun.
Speaking of movies, watched Murder by Death last night with shambry. I'm not sure what I can say about it. It was funny, to be sure, but a little more disturbing than it should have been. To me at least. If you get a chance, watch it, but be prepared to walk away wondering what it was you just watched. One thing that I just remembered about it. It was almost exactly like the how to host a murder games we've been playing recently, with only slightly less silly names...

So, shambry has been suggesting I update this thing a bit more often, so this post officially doubles how often I update! It also doubles how often I've updated any page about me...
So, tiassa often updates on the status of her game. I've been considering doing that, but I just get so excited about the plot and story that I let things slip all the time... Mind as soon as we start playing, I realize the plot and story I've been excited about are rather lame, but we'll save that for the post-game laments. Right now I'm looking at our first session in this incarnation of Alastar, and getting a list of what I think is wrong with the world, the group, and the direction we're going. That is sadly a long list. My biggest concern is that the players will get bored with the world as it is. I've put way too much work (in my opinion) on the silly little details of Alastar, that we could easily be mired in finishing stories in every town, and every person that they cross on the road. That works great in computer RPG games, cus when you get bored you can choose to skip them or just save and walk away for a while, it's a bit tougher to do that with 6 players. So, I remind myself that even though it's my world, it's more important that they players have fun. So, next session... hopefully we'll spice things up a bit, get a bit more exciting, and maybe be comparable to one of tiassa's games!

So, this is a Live Journal huh? I get the feeling this space will not be used much, unless things get really borring at work. Recent updates in life, I finished my 6 month goals! And setup my goals for the next 6 months! This time I decided to punish myself, and promised I'd learn how to do the Mac support... Why? Because I couldn't think of anything else, and it gives me more of a reason to get a raise.
Many thanks to out to tiassa for getting me this. She's the coolest.
Time to go home!!
